
Niklaus Keller
Niklaus Keller was born in Switzerland. After receiving a diploma for teaching percussion instruments he studied composition under Hans U. Lehmann at the Musikhochschule Zürich and after that under Paul Glass at the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana.
He worked ten years as a percussion teacher at the Jugendmusikschule Pfannenstiel in the canton Zürich. Hereupon he completed a masters degree at the University of Birmingham GB where he studied composition under Jonty Harrison.
He organised several projects with his music in Switzerland. Here the ensemble had up to eleven musicians.
Niklaus Keller is not a member of a certain compositional movement and he is open-minded about all kinds of musical expressions and his polystylistic work uses devices from the area of serious music and popular music.
The Federal Office of Culture awarded Niklaus Keller’s work and the Zug Youth String Orchestra, the Zurich Symphony Orchestra and the Viollier Institute have commissioned compositions from him.
He works as a composer, music teacher, creator of audio content for various purposes and teaches courses in Logic pro. He currently resides in Bologna, Italy.
